
Our summer placements are designed to give you an insight into Grant Thornton to gain an understanding of our business, our clients, our people and our culture and at the same time, will help you determine whether you want to pursue a career in professional services. A summer placement will give you the opportunity to have direct client contact and gain valuable commercial skills.
We offer a limited number of summer placement opportunities in the below areas, which will take place between July and September each year for approximately 6 weeks: Audit (London, Liverpool), Business Risk Services (London), Tax (London), Recovery & Reorganisation
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Our summer placement programme is for students from any degree discipline, in their penultimate year, who would like to find out more about what it is like to work at Grant Thornton, and gain some invaluable commercial experience working within a professional services firm.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Academic criteria:
A minimum of six GCSE passes, including English Language and Mathematics at grade A or B, minimum of 300 UCAS points/24 A-level points and expecting to achieve a 2:1 Honours degree (or equivalent)
Attributes:
- Motivation - has an interest in business affairs and the broader business environment
- Drive - demonstrates energy, enthusiasm and interest; seeks responsibility; keen to contribute and make a difference
- Communication and credibility - projects a professional, credible image; explains basic concepts clearly, logically, and consistently
- Teamwork - has the ability to develop constructive working relationships with others
- Organisation - plans workload in advance, scheduling activities to optimise the effectiveness of own contribution; can prioritise conflicting demands
Skills:
- Computer literate and experienced in the use of Microsoft packages, the Internet and e-mail.
- Flexibility to travel to clients premises
WHO SHOULD APPLY?
You will get the same exposure to clients and work as you would if you joined our graduate intake and will therefore get to gain some real life experience and understand what it would be like to join our graduate programme. You will find out first hand what it is like to be part of a professional team and improve your commercial awareness, as well as developing your interpersonal skills, and you could even finish your summer placement with a full time offer to return as part of our graduate training programme once you graduate.
