Corporate responsibility lies at the heart of our approach to every client relationship, every commitment to our people and every investment in our infrastructure.
We strive to positively influence the physical and social environment we share with the communities we work in, and we’ve developed sophisticated processes and tools to help us manage and measure the footprint we leave on the natural resources that sustain our work.
The results of Grant Thornton's work touch a huge number of people in their daily life across the UK. Our services directly help our clients shape and run profitable, agile, forward-thinking businesses. Our clients in turn sustain thousands of jobs and bring to market products and services we all rely on, from insurance to farm produce to pharmaceuticals.
At Grant Thornton, we believe corporate responsibility is built on a foundation of collective and individual initiative. We'll work with you every step of the way to make a difference in what you do.

LIVING PROOF
Our people embrace corporate responsibility individually as well as through their day jobs, giving up their time to apply their professional talents to local, national and international good causes.
Our Client Service Director took on the role of treasurer at Birmingham Crisis Centre, which looks after women and children who need refuge from domestic violence.
They're also happy to put away their spreadsheets, roll their sleeves up and get stuck in, for instance when our Leeds team gave Mencap's Hawthorn Nursery a much-needed spruce-up to make a more welcoming environment for local children with learning disabilities.
Some have directly helped some of the world's most disadvantaged people, like our Growth & Strategic Services manager who took a year long sabbatical with his wife to help street children in Argentina, where they worked as house parents to forty variously abandoned, abused, and orphaned children near Buenos Aires.
Our commitment to corporate responsibility quietly underpins everyday working practice. Recycling at the London office alone keeps around 260 tonnes of waste out of landfill or away from the incinerator each year. We're constantly exploring other practical ways to make a difference, like infra-red lighting management that will automatically turn off the lights in each office after the last person leaves for the evening, and like "On yer bike" – a 1500 mile round-Britain relay organised and ridden by Grant Thornton that raised more than £20,000 for charity in 2005 in a firm-wide celebration of collective effort.
Our people are regularly prominent in team and individual sponsored charity events up and down the country, having fun and making money for good causes at events like the Birmingham Karting Championship and the Three Peaks Challenge.
