Professional training

TAX

Our Tax teams closely monitor UK and international tax regulation and continuously review our clients’ business structures, operations and personal financial arrangements to ensure they deliver optimum sustainable tax efficiencies, and comply with current regulation.

Grant Thornton tax trainees can choose the tax-based approach to the ACA qualification (three years training), or the CTA qualification offered by the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). Training for CTA will take two to three years, with the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) qualification obtained en route.

We have a range of specialisms within the Tax department including Corporate Tax, Entrepreneur and Private Client, Employer Solutions, VAT & Transfer Pricing.

Working with us you’ll help advise a wide range of clients, including serial entrepreneurs, high net worth individuals and families, non-domiciled individuals, major professional partnerships, and UK and offshore trusts.

Grant Thornton is one of the UK's leading organisations of accounting and consulting firms. We provide assurance, tax and specialist advice to fast-growing, entrepreneurial people and businesses.

The Entrepreneur and Private Client (EPC) graduate programme at Grant Thornton offers you a career buzzing with opportunity, at a firm that places people at its heart. It will give you a brighter future and the chance to experience the best of both worlds.

At Grant Thornton, we appreciate that you may not immediately know that career path you would like to follow. That's why, for the first two years of our programme, we give you training and experience in both tax and financial planning, to a level where you will be able to practise either discipline.

And after two years, you'll have the option to choose whether to specialise in tax or financial planning as an EPC adviser – and go on to become Chartered.

Either way, we'll let you sample the best of both worlds. Then the choice is yours.

TRANSFER PRICING (CTA or ACA)
Multinational companies have an obligation to report a fair amount of profit in each country in which they operate. Tax authorities globally are keen to enforce this standard to ensure that the company is paying enough tax in their country. Transfer pricing is the term given to the evaluation of these profits based on the functions performed and risks borne by the entities in each country. We have a multi-disciplinary team consisting of economists and tax professionals providing transfer pricing advice to a broad range of clients. As transfer pricing affects multinational companies, we carry out work for a number of household names. In addition, we work closely with our international tax colleagues and transfer pricing specialists globally to ensure we provide our clients with an integrated solution to their transfer pricing issues. As transfer pricing is a tax requirement, our work can be divided into two main areas: compliance and planning.

In tax compliance we assist clients in the documentation of their transfer pricing policies in a format that shall satisfy both the UK Inland Revenue and other tax authorities globally, and should enquiries be raised by any of these tax authorities, we are experienced in defending the transfer pricing policy and leading negotiations with the relevant authorities.

In tax planning we assist clients in developing an economically viable transfer pricing policy or tax-efficient supply chain. We also offer integrated tax solutions, in conjunction with our international tax colleagues, including the management of the client's worldwide tax charge.
